CHELMSFORD, Mass., Jun 2, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Brooks Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq: BRKS), which develops and produces hardware, software and systems to enable manufacturing efficiencies for the semiconductor and other complex manufacturing industries, today announced that its chairman and chief executive officer, Robert J. Therrien, would transition the position of chief executive officer to Brooks Automation president and chief operating officer Edward C. Grady effective October 1, 2004. Mr. Therrien will remain as chairman of the Board of Directors and will serve as a consultant to the Company following his retirement on December 31, 2004. Mr. Grady's appointment as CEO represents the completion of a process that was initiated with his being hired as Brooks' president and chief operating officer in February 2003 and named a Director in September 2003.
